    Welcome

    Thank you for choosing you.

Sometimes life is a lot to carry alone, and even if you have supportive friends and family - sometimes you just need support from someone on the outside.

    In our space you can

    • decompress and just vent.

    • have support with current or ongoing distress.

    • explore old wounds, events, memories.

    • work to understand the impact of your past on your present.

    • try to sort out mixed up pieces of your puzzle.

    • explore how and why you became who you are today.

    • be okay to focus just on you, right now.

    • have the chance to heal and feel better.

    About Me

    My name is Corri Johnson.

My professional experience with clients is that people almost always have what it takes to find their way, to understand, or to change. Sometimes what they need is someone to sit with, talk to, and make a start. They need to feel without judgement. They need to feel seen and understood - and to feel like they matter. That is where the healing begins.

So that is what I do.

    My Approach

I am a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor.

    What does that mean?

It means I am trained to look through a variety of "lenses" at a wide variety of concerns, troubles, experiences, memories, events, and ways of relating to other people or to the world. There is no one set way to make sense of life and I work to find what helps you. We work together to make it make sense, whatever "it" may be.

I primarily draw from psychodynamics, relational models, gestalt, and attachment theory while building up somatic awareness and psychoeducation.

    My Professional Focus

    • substance and alcohol addiction, including supporting friends and family of someone with addiction

(Please note: I do not advise on reduction or stopping active substance or alcohol use.)

    • anxiety
    • low mood
    • chronic unsafety
    • expats and immigration stress
    • relationship difficulties
    • low self-esteem
    • working with clients aged 60+

I am open to working in areas not included in this list.

I have also supported clients with:

    • OCD
    • bullying
    • religion and faith concerns
    • bereavement and grief
    • work stress
    • family of origin/childhood dynamics
    • chronic illness
    • domestic violence

    Common Questions and Answers

If you have any further questions not answered here, please feel free to ask via the contact form below.

    In-person sessions:

I will offer you a tea, coffee, or water, and invite you to sit anywhere you like.

If it is difficult for you to sit still while we talk, there will be art supplies and fidget items for you to use. You might even bring a small comfort item of your own.

In addition to our conversation, we may use imagery exercises, letter writing, sensory work, infographics, and other tools to help you make sense of your story.

    Online or telephone sessions:

It is important that your online or telephone session is as much like an in-person session as possible. I will ask you to ensure you are in a private space where you will not be interrupted while you are in session. You will receive a link via email to join your online session, or I will phone you at the agreed time.

Walk - and - Talk Sessions

I will soon offer the option of sessions which do not take place in my office but rather walking together nearby along a set path through a field and a wooded area near the river. Unfortunately I cannot guarantee full privacy or anonymity in a public place, but steps can be taken to preserve your privacy as much as reasonably possible.

I will respond to your contact within 48 hours with an offer of a free 20 minute phone call to briefly discuss your concerns, expectations, and any practical matters of working together. This allows us to get a sense of each other and see if I might be the right counsellor for you.

If we decide to proceed, I will book in an assessment session, where I gather personal details about several areas of your life. This can feel a bit strange, but it helps me get to know you and learn how to support you safely. This will be a 50 minute session priced according to your contract.

Sessions are £55 per 50 minute session, usually weekly, and ongoing/unlimited.

Concession rates may be an option in limited circumstances which I am happy to discuss with you. Concession rates are offered for a maximum of 16 sessions.

Payment is expected before the session,  via bank transfer. I ask for 24 hours notice of cancellation. Cancellations without 24 hours advance notice will be charged at your contracted price.

I suggest five weeks of sessions to start, then we review if you wish to continue. You are welcome to end working with me at any time.

I work primarily in-person and online (video). I very occasionally do sessions over the telephone.

I work one to one with adults (18+) only.

I do not see couples, families, or children.

I will consider working with clients in active addiction on a case-by-case basis.

I do not advise on reduction or cessation of substances or alcohol use. Please see your GP for support with this, or contact Change Grow Live. https://www.changegrowlive.org/

Yes! I will not share your information or session discussions, with the exception of certain legal requirements which usually concern risk of serious harm. I will always try to discuss any disclosures with you first.

To ensure ethical, competent, and safe practice, I do discuss my work with my clinical supervisor who works according to the BACP code of ethics and condfidentiality. You may read about these here:

We will soon be offering acupuncture for anxiety sessions. This is auricular acupuncture, which focuses on the ears only. If you are interested, please contact me using the contact form below.

Acupuncture sessions are available whether you are a counselling client or not, and cost £20 per 30 minute session.

I hold an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling from CPPD London.

I have an MA in Addiction Counselling and Prevention.
